Cardiovascular Nursing

Cardiac nurses take care of patients who suffer from various conditions of the cardiovascular system by helping to treat conditions such as unstable angina, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction and cardiac dysrhythmia under the guidance of a professional cardiologist. The major duties of a cardiovascular nurse include postoperative care on a surgical unit, stress test observations, cardiac monitoringvascular monitoring, and health care assessments. They must know the proper usage of electrocardiogram monitoring, defibrillation, and medication administration by continuous intravenous drip.
